Day 3 – Mykonos

First things first, get the suncream on. Despite being a lot browner and getting rid of my ‘farmer’s tan’, I still had a hint of redness. I wasn’t allowed breakfast today as Anna suggested we wait until we get to Mykonos town to get lunch. Apparently that rule didn’t apply to her as she waltzed out of the shop with the bus tickets and a watermelon… To make matters worse, the bus was 25 minutes late.

The Windmills are the first point of interest in Mykonos town. Previously used to make bread and yeast, they are now the backdrop to many tourist pictures, especially Anna’s as I had to take close to 30 pictures to get a good one.

The next job was to find somewhere to eat. We were told to head in land as you didn’t have to pay for the scenic views and so it was cheaper. The area in which we explored was called ‘Little Venice’ and it was clear as to why. There were so many streets that reminded us of the Italian city and there were hundreds of high end shops from Gucci to Versace and even a Victoria’s Secret down a side street. Thank goodness Anna only has a small rucksack or we would be coming back home with a bag of over priced pants and bras.
We eventually found a reasonably priced greek restaurant where Anna had the traditional Spaghetti… and I had the more traditional Gyros Kebab. We had planned to have a day trip to Delos today but with the boat and entrance prices totalling €23, we thought that we could use that money on a nicer hostel down the line.

However, I did give Anna a short history of Delos. Fun Fact: According to Greek mythology, Delos was the birthplace or Apollo and Artemis. The Cyclades (the islands that we are hopping around) received their name because they form a rough circle around this sacred island of Delos.

After the lecture, we had a productive hour – buying ice cream and booking our boat tickets to Paros. Unfortunately, I found myself in a sticky situation. I managed to stand on chewing gum – not my shoe, my actually foot.
After getting the bus back, we went for a swim off a secluded pier, just beside a party yacht who were playing some tunes for us, and it was obviously their first yacht trip as they were so hyper taking selfies.
The water in greece is honestly amazing. Louis even suggested he didn’t need to shower this trip as the sea was good enough… I told him otherwise and back to the cabin we went for a more hygienic shower with soap, shampoo and water that other people haven’t previously peed in.

We got all glammed up and I even put on a red dress to support England in the match. Louis didn’t need to dress up as his red burnt face showed his support already. It was then when Louis found out the news that Roger Federer had lost. He was in bits and didn’t even want to go out anymore. I eventually persuaded him and we got more Gyros for dinner to cheer him up.
Obviously you know the result now, but yesterday, it was definitely coming home! We went to the shop for some alcohol, smuggled it in to the bar like professionals and watched the England match sat beside 2 Irish boys from Galway.
During the match, we were entertained by the nightclub on our left as well as the boy who had got up on the table to dance, pretty spectacularly actually. The DJ also remixed Avicii Levels with Somebody that you used to know – I hope accidentally because I think that’s still too soon. Needless to say, it isn’t coming home, and the pro-Croatia part of the bar were over the moon.

Before heading home, we saw my two best friends from the plane, still wearing the same clothes and still exhibiting an excessive amount of PDA.
This one is for Southgate and the boys xx
