Today started off in a bit of a pickle. Anna had set her alarm to get up at 5.30am and get one of the good canopy beds. Unfortunately, the doors to the pool were locked so grumpy Anna had to wait until 7am to try again. Luckily she got a bed this time! It was so windy last night that Louis’ swimming shorts had blown off the balcony and landed…well we’re not sure. Reception had them though so thankfully Louis wouldn’t be nude around the pool today.
After Louis ate his scrambled, boiled, fried and omelette eggs, we relaxed in our cool bed for a day of sleep, tanning, swimming and even reading. Anna even finished chapter 1 of her new book.
As people checked out and people checked in, you could see that the new comers haven’t realised the unwritten rules of the pool yet. 2 couples took the towels off reserved beds beside us and when the others came back, to be fair, it was a polite and well-mannered argument. Good viewing for the neutrals.
Anna stated yesterday that she was getting quicker at writing the blog. Wrong. After about 3 hours of writing, and then having to replace the different spellings of whether, weather, where and were, we were able to relax at lunch with homemade gyros.
I would only go to lunch when the bed poachers were also at lunch as I wasn’t in the mood for any confrontation today. Thankfully they got a bed not long after when another couple left on a day trip.
Something new to the gin and travel trips was our Amazon fire stick. Unfortunately, we just couldn’t get it working despite our best efforts and had to resort to a tv guide of the news in every channel. Returning to the room to get ready for dinner, the bar had run out of aperol spritz!!! Fair play to us guests though, but they do really put so much alcohol in our drinks so it’s their own fault.
I took a bit of a hit on the shoulders today from the sun. It was more sun-flat-out-meet rather than sun-kissed. It threw me off my game and even Anna out ate me at dinner, demolishing a bread, soup, main and dessert course to my bread and main.
Aperol back in stock, we sat outside in the windy poolside bar to wait for tonight’s entertainment – a trumpeter. Anna was crossing her fingers for either Gabriel’s Oboe or The Last Post. I was almost 100% certain neither of them were going to be played tonight. It wasn’t the biggest crowd for the trumpeter and didn’t even convert me into one of his fans. Nonetheless, we retired to our balcony to watch the show from a new angle.
The best news of the day was when we found out our insta blogger rivals the globbers – who got upgraded to a top floor room – still had a smaller and not a nicer room than us. Knew it. We’re the top dogs. As Jeff Bezos said recently about his trip to space…we couldn’t have done it without all you fans!
