Day 8

It only took until the last full day at Syntopia hotel for the staff to realise that we love our orange juice in the morning, and also down it like a nice cold Irish Guinness – we got double the portions this morning. Off to a good start.
We got our same beds in the sun and with no clouds today, it was a great day for tanning. That was until Anna had started developing her prickly heat again. Although we swam and sunbathed all morning, Anna’s skin started to look like some horrible skin disease that when the massage people from the spa came to ask Anna to come back for another, and spend €75 pffft, they were quite relieved.
Whilst I was swimming away in the pool I could see Anna wrapped up in the shade, rubbing the ice cubes from her malibu orange drink over her chest and arms. Maybe it’s best to get an early lunch.
As it was our last lunch, I made sure it was a meal to remember and ate an extra helping to store for tomorrow. Anna had come to her senses and we called it a day, retired not out and headed to the room to seek shade and protect our skins.
After a helping of aloe vera and some aperol, our chilled out day was passing so quickly it was almost time for dinner. Such a boring day I know – blame Anna this time. However, it was bound to get better. It was Italian night!! I spotted the special menu for the restaurant and it had tortellini, gnocci, pizza, pasta, spaghetti, tiramasu – all my favourites, and all free! I couldn’t contain my excitement.
Since January, I’ve become a fully fledged vegetarian – I know it’s hard to believe – usually I’d eat 5 full chickens a day either as goujons, dippers or dinosaurs. I haven’t missed meat really until tonight. The pizza had ham, the tortellini had chicken, the rice had shrimp. It was a disaster. Nevertheless, I had 2 full plates of pasta salad, gnocci and potatoes and ate away my sorrows.
Despite only 2 people guessing correctly on our insta story, a long time tradition of ours is to FaceTime our friend Jerome/Jerry/Jerry-LondonJerry. We have done this on each one of our travels so we gave him a ring now – also to bulk up today’s blog of course.
Catch up done and milking our free drinks, we also reached our 300th instagram follower. Woooooo. When we started all this, it was only so that our parents would know what we were doing, where we were and what we ate for food so we didn’t get a phone call everyday. To be fair, it worked! Anna’s mum has only rung us once this trip so far!!
